Father lived at 52 Tilton Street, New Haven
Enlisted on April 10, 1940

Born to George M. Smith (1898-1974) and Helen Elizabeth Sanders Smith (1900-1977). PFC Smith was their only child.

Received the Purple Heart Medal.

Information about Private Smith is scarce. Service number 6150664 on the interment card matches the casualty book for those killed in action from Connecticut. Not much other information was found. NOTE: “T.H.” in the state block of the form Interment card below, stood for “Territory of Hawaii.”  Hawaii didn’t become a state until 1950. This is the source of why his grave marker has “Hawaii” and not “Connecticut.” The burial file can be seen HERE.

PFC Smith is buried at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, 2177 Puowaina Dr, Honolulu, Hawaii; Section O, Plot 22. Photo from findagrave.com.
