Founder’s statement

Norwalk CT Heroes and the companion site, Connecticut Military Heroes, was established with a singular purpose: to ensure that the men and women connected to Connecticut who served in the Armed Forces of the United States are remembered with dignity, accuracy, and permanence.

History is often recorded in terms of battles and campaigns, but it is ultimately defined by individuals — by citizens who answered the call to serve, many of whom made the ultimate sacrifice. Their names deserve more than a listing in an archive; they deserve context, recognition, and enduring honor.

This project seeks to preserve those stories. Each profile represents a life of commitment, courage, and service to a cause greater than self. While particular attention is given to those who did not return home, we also recognize veterans whose lives exemplify dedication and valor.

The responsibility to remember does not rest solely with institutions. It rests with communities — and with each generation — to ensure that sacrifice is neither forgotten nor diminished by time.

It is my hope that this archive will serve families, educators, researchers, and citizens as a trusted and lasting tribute to Connecticut’s military heroes.
