Born to Carmine “Charles” P. (1875-1943) and Mary G. Porta Vingo (1888-1974). Both parents were born in Italy. Brothers, Michael A. (1905-1980), Joseph A. (1908-1971) and Louis W. (1917-1944). [Louis was killed in action in WWII]. Sisters Cassima “Mary” Vingo Sileo (1906-1991), Giovanna “Jennie” S. Vingo Buchanan (1911-1982) and Martha T. Vingo Errico (1923-2005).


Wounded at Mounte Cassino in Western Italy on February 17, 1945 while sending supplies to another division on the mountain ranges. Wounded in left leg by bomb shrapnel and behind right ear.
