OTHER: Worked at Yankee Metals Products Company in Norwalk prior to service.

PVT PAUL GULYAS, JR. WOUNDED IN ACTION

Private Paul Gulyas Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gulyas Sr., of 24 Concord Street, was slightly wounded in action in France about 10 days ago, according to a telegram received by his parents on Saturday from the War Department. Private Gulyas, who is with the Medical Corps, has been in the service for almost three years and went overseas in January.

Paul P. Gulyas, 63, of 16 Alvin Drive, husband of Clara LaRocca Gulyas, died Saturday in Norwalk Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Gulyas was born in Vintondale, Pa., the son of the late Paul and Susan Harnots Gulyas. He was a retired supervisor for Yankee Metal Corporation where he had worked for 43 years. Mr. Gulyas was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was the recipient of a Purple Heart. He had been a volunteer at Silvermine School after his retirement. In addition to his wife, Mr. Gulyas is survived by a son, Paul T. Gulyas Jr. of Seamford; two daughters, Mrs. Susan Matturro of Fairfield and Mrs. Janice Cianciulli of Glastonbury; a brother, Steve Gulyas of Norwalk; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Kish, Mrs. Mary Williams, and Mrs. Irene Toth, all of Norwalk; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 o’clock in St. Jerome Church. Interment will be at St. John Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m.
