Stephen St. John Esq.,
[Lt Col comm]and of the 9th Reg of
Foot [Guard of t]he State of Connecticut
who departed this life May the 9th 1785,
in the 50th year of his age.
Hark from the tombs of doleful son[-]
My ears, attend the cry;
Ye living men, come view the ground
Where you must shortly lie.
