The Collings’

While cleaning up some older posts on the site, I came across something that I discovered a year or more ago. The father of Herbert Turner Collings Jr. was a POW in World War One. I never dug in enough to do some of the background on Senior, and now have. My number one hope is that if there are family members still alive, that they find this post and the posts of a father and son who served proudly. Regretfully, Junior never made it back. He was in the U.S. Army’s 1st Cavalry Division and was Killed In Action at Leyte, Philippines in 1944. Yet another part of the fabric of this community and the heroes who served.
