From The Norwalk Hour January 8, 2019
Dr. Leonard Green, 93, a podiatrist who lived and practiced on Main Street, New Canaan, for over 50 years, died peacefully on November 3, 2018, in Stamford Hospital after a short illness. He moved to Edge Hill in Stamford in August 2016. Born in Norwalk on February 19, 1925, he was the son of the late Gus and Pauline Green. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 40 years, Erna Jane Fekiman, a former member of
the New Canaan Town Council. His sister, Ruth Green Osman, brother Harold Green, and niece, Geri Osman, also predeceased him. Following graduation from Norwalk High School in 1943, Lenny, as he was known, enlisted in the Army. He served as Private First Class with Company D, 104th Infantry Regiment in Europe during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He also received the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, and Good Conduct Medal. Following his discharge in January 1946, he took advantage of the Gl Bill to study at Northwestern in Chicago. Dr. Green was always active in the New Canaan community. He was a longtime member of the Senior Men’s Club; he enjoyed his bridge games at Lapham, his daily walks and tennis games at Mead Park, playing the violin, Chinese food, and a good library book. His positive presence will be missed by his many friends, former patients, neighbors, and family. Dr. Green is survived by his nephews, Bruce Green and Guy Green, both of Norwalk and Steve Green of New Fairfield, CT.
