PVT EDWARD GANUNG WOUNDED IN ACTION
Private Edward Ganung, son of Mrs. Esther Ganung of 17 Harbor Avenue and the late Albert Ganung, was wounded in action in Germany recently, according to a War Department telegram received today by his mother. In the Army since September 1943, he went overseas in March of this year, being stationed in Germany with the First Army. In civilian life, he was employed by Judson and Sons.

Edward A. (Doc) Ganung, 50, of Comstock Hill Road, Norwalk, died this morning in Norwalk after a long illness. Born in Norwalk, son of the late Albert and Esther Maron
Ganung, and was a lifelong resident here. He was employed by the Norwalk Post Office as a clerk. Mr. Ganung was the first resident of Connecticut to have an atomic-powered pacemaker inserted to assist the heartbeat. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Rural Carriers Union, and the Postal Clerks Union. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife, Rose Conte Ganung of Norwalk; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Susan) Bucciarelli and Miss Shelia Ganung, both of Norwalk; two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Catherine) Basone and Mrs. Daniel (Elizabeth) Kish, both of Norwalk; and one grandchild. Services will be held Friday at 8:30 A.M. in Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk, and in St. Mary’s Church for a mass of Christian Burial at 9 o’clock. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, West Norwalk. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 P.M. and Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M.
