PFC FRANK REDA, WOUNDED, IMPROVES
Mrs. Frank Reda, of 71 Van Buren Avenue, has been notified by the War Department that her husband, PFC Frank Reda, was slightly wounded on November 21st in Germany. His condition continues to improve. PFC Reda received his basic training at Camp Blanding, Florida. He spent a furlough at home in July with his wife and his children and went overseas in August. His wife is the former Ruth Hoggson.

NORWALK — Frank “Shag” J. Reda Sr., 79, a Norwalk resident most of his life, died Sunday in Norwalk Hospital. He was the husband of the late Ruth Hoggson Reda. Born in New York, the son of the late Louis and Marie Porco Reda was the owner and operator of Shag’s Gulf Service on the corner of Connecticut and Taylor Avenues for more than 40 years. Mr. Reda was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he earned the Purple Heart. He was a member of Norwalk’s Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Reda is survived by a son, Frank J. Reda Jr. of Norwalk; a daughter, Bonnie Frate Stankiewicz of Norwalk; four brothers, Ralph Reda of Largo, Fla, David Reda of Bethlehem; and Louis Reda and Patsy Reda, both of Norwalk; four sisters, Esther Fox of Dover Plains, N.Y., and Jennie Visconti, Theresa Kocsis, and Mary Catugno, all of Norwalk; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Reda, and two sisters, Rose Shimko and Josephine Reda. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary Church, 669 West Ave. Interment will take place in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave.
