Charles W. Richmond, 77, of Agawam and formerly of Norwalk, CT, died Monday, July 14, at his home in Agawam. Charles was a self-employed carpenter for many years, specializing in home building. After his retirement, he worked for 18 years at the Shore and Country Club in Norwalk, CT. Born in Rowayton, CT on December 24, 1925, son of the late William G. and Georgiana (Buckley) Richmond, he resided in Norwalk most of his life and wintered in Springhill, FL for the past 7 years. He was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Norwalk, CT. Charles was a veteran of WWII serving with the United States Marines, attaining the rank of Corporal, and received the Purple Heart for injuries during combat in Okinawa. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pauline (Lippolis) Richmond; 2 sons, William C. Richmond of New Hartford, CT, and David J. Richmond of Odessa, FL; 2 daughters, Anne J. Wright of Agawam, MA, and Patricia M. Richmond of Florence, MA; a sister, Evelyn Dolan of Dover Plains, NY and six grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held Friday morning, July 18, at 11:00 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, East Ave., Norwalk, CT. A graveside service will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Main St, Agawam. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Tampa Hope Lodge, 12810 Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612. Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
