FAMILY: Born to James A. [1862-1952] and Letitia E. Rorke Fealy [1868-1951]. One brother, Charles A. [1897-1909]. One sister, Ella M. Fealy Sullivan [1892-1984].

SERVICE DATES: Appointed as a Nurse on March 21, 1918. Assigned to the Military Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut, until December 1918. Then assigned to Camp Hospital #43, Blois, France, until February 1919. Then assigned to Embark Hospital #4, Spartanburg, SC, until she was discharged on June 18, 1919.

NOTE: Rita Fealy’s name isn’t on the plaque in Norwalk. She was born in Norwalk and lived there until she was three. Then her family moved to Long Island.

Rita L. (née Fealy) Odom, of Melville, on January 2, 1985, in her 90th year. Registered nurse and veteran of WWI. Beloved wife of the late Edward. Devoted mother of Rita L. Loew. Grandmother of William M. Cullen. Daniel Cullen, Barbara Kolopsky, and Robert Loew. Also survived by five great-grandchildren. Sister of the late Ella Sullivan. Reposing at Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home, 5 Laurel Ave., Northport, Thursday 7-10: Friday 2-5 and 7-10. Funeral mass, Saturday 9:30 AM, St. Elizabeth’s Church. Interment St. Philip Neri.


Rita Fealy Odom is buried in Saint Philip Neri Cemetery, 5 Laurel Road, East Northport, New York; unknown plot number.
