Drozd Klokus (1930-2021).

DECORATIONS: Recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon with one star and the Purple Heart Medal.

MICHAEL DROZD
WWII VETERAN, PURPLE HEART RECIPIENT

NORWALK – Michael Drozd, 83, of Norwalk, died Tuesday in Mediplex of Westport. He was the husband of the late Anna Orban Drozd. Mr. Drozd was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on September 1, 1914, son of the late Peter and Eva Romanik Drozd. He had been a resident of Norwalk for more than 60 years. He was a retired greenskeeper at Birchwood Country Club in Westport, where he had worked for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a longtime member of the Corning, New York, Veterans of Foreign Wars post. Mr. Drozd is survived by a son, Michael P. Drozd of Norwalk; four brothers, Charles Drozd of St. Petersburg, Florida, John Drozd of Corning, New York, Joseph Drozd, and Peter Drozd, both of Wilkes-Barre; four sisters, Olga Pieck of Wilkes-Barre, Anna Klokus of Corning, Eva Drozd of New Jersey and Anastasia Dearie Klokus of Wilkes-Barre; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Drozd Eyes. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
