Richard William Aitken, formerly of Norwalk, a son of Mrs. Sidney Aitken of 128 East Avenue, Norwalk, and brother of Mrs. Fred Dugan, 25 Ferris Avenue, this city, died on Saturday in the U.S. Naval Hospital in Quonset Point, Rhode Island, following an appendectomy. He resided on Andover Street, Bridgeport, prior to his enlistment in the U.S. Navy last August. He was 37 years old and had been stationed at the U.S. Naval Training Station in Newport at the time he was stricken ill. Previous to his enlistment, he was employed at the Blue Ribbon Garage in Bridgeport as a paint sprayer, and also worked at one time for the DuParquet Company in Norwalk. Besides his mother and sister in Norwalk, he is survived by two sons, Richard and William, who reside with their mother, Mrs. Dorothy Aitken, at 101 Denver Avenue, Bridgeport; his father, Hugh Aitken of Stratford; and another sister, Mrs. Howard Garrigus of Cheshire and several uncles and aunts. Funeral services will take place in the mortuary chapel of A.G. Baker Funeral Home, 1888 Stratford Avenue, on Tuesday afternoon. Burial will be in the family plot in Union Cemetery, Stratford.
