Howard L. Quick, age 94, of Brookfield and a former longtime Norwalk resident, died peacefully at River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Lindblom Quick. Howard was born in Norwalk on October 24, 1916, son of the late George and Daisy Smith Quick. He was a graduate of Norwalk High School and afterwards received an associate’s degree in accounting. Howard retired from R.T. Vanderbilt, where he had worked in quality control and was co-owner of Chouinard & Quick Sanitation in Wilton. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart while serving under General Patton in Europe. Howard was a longtime member and head usher for 40 years at the East Avenue United Methodist Church and was an avid bowler and golfer.
Survivors include two daughters, Elaine M. Zarcone (Gary) of Oxford, WI and Patricia Quick (Tony Wise) of Brookfield, CT, a sister, Dorothy Ginther of Albuquerque, NM, 2 grandchildren, Kevin Michael Zarcone (Cynthia) and Cara Ann Zarcone, and her fiance Aaron Stetter, great-granddaughter Eleana E. Zarcone and several nieces and nephews. Howard was also predeceased by his siblings, Bertha Brennan Flynn, David L. Brennan, George and Russell Quick, and Carolyn Quick Winters.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 4, at 11 AM at the East Avenue United Methodist Church. Howard’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk, on Thursday from 5-8 PM.
