NORWALK — Edward Louis Wargo, 78, of Norwalk, died Sunday at Norwalk Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Betty Wilson Wargo. A Norwalk native, Mr. Wargo was the son of the late Bela and Mary Doszpoly Wargo. Mr. Watgo retired from R.T. Vanderbilt in Norwalk in 1982. He served in the U.S. Army in the 26th Infantry, “The Yankee Division,” and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a lover of American jazz and blues. In addition to his wife, Mr. Wargo is survived by three daughters, Frances ‘Pinky” Denzel and Patricia Burr, both of Norwalk, and Catherine ‘‘Kitty” Koger of Stratford; two brothers, William Wargo, and Frank Wargo, both of Norwalk; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Pearl Silk. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Christ Episcopal Church, 1 Gregory Blvd., East Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Christ Episcopal Church or the Alzheimers Association, 611 Riverside Ave., Westport, CT 06880.


Buried in Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Avenue, Norwalk, Connecticut; Section 15A, Plot 31, Grave 4b.
