Unit: 28th Regiment, Connecticut Volunteers, Company G


Born to Seth (1794-1837) and Hannah Harrison Beers (1798-1845). Siblings were Jane (1815-1850), Samuel (1817-1874), Mary (1820-1904), Phebe (1823-?), William (1827-1898), Harriet (1829-?), Jane (1832-?), Rufus (1836-1897).


Died on a steamship near Vicksburg, Mississippi.


The only burial information that could be found was a short statement in the Norwalk Gazette newspaper on August 25, 1863 – “George Beers, Co. G, Norwalk, buried on the bank of the river below Vicksburg.
