Unit: 7th Regiment, Connecticut Volunteers, Company D
Also served in the 1st Regiment, Connecticut Volunteers, Company E in 1861


Born to George (1807-1888) and Sarah J. Beardsley Benedict (1810-1847) Siblings were Homer H. (1830-1865), Georgiana M. (1830-1867), Cornelia M. Benedict Russell (1839-1916) and half-brother George W. (1852-1907).


Died at Knight General Hospital, New Haven, CT as a result of wounds received on May 10, 1864 at Chester Station, Virginia in The Battle of the Wilderness.


Buried at Pine Island Cemetery, Crescent Street, Norwalk, CT
