Wounded on July 19, 1965 in Qui Nhon, Binh Dinh Province, Vietnam. Awarded the Purple Heart Medal.
After retirement, he served on the Honor Guard at American Legion Post 250 in Fowl River, Alabama. He honored deceased veterans at funerals several times a week in all conditions. (Contributed by son Lance Gill)
