FAMILY: Born to James E. (1811-1880) and Jerusha Ferris Brown (1813-1903). Four sisters, Mary M. (1837-?), Esther D. Brown Stevens (1845-1922), Jane (1847-?), and Nancy Brown Benedict (1850-1935). Three brothers, James A. (1839-1920), Horatio W. (1855-1930), and Edward M. (1856-1880).
