Women on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial

Vietnam Women's Memorial

National Mall and Memorial Parks , Vietnam Veterans Memorial

Back in 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, I began working on a project that has stayed close to my heart. That year, I helped form a committee to bring The Wall That Heals (TWTH) to Norwalk. TWTH is a 3/4-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

As we prepared for its arrival, I found myself drawn to learning more about the women and chaplains whose names are on The Wall. Their stories represent a unique and significant part of our nation’s history. What began as a personal effort to learn and understand has grown into something I now feel compelled to share publicly.

The result is a document dedicated to the eight women whose names are inscribed on The Wall. Their courage, compassion, and sacrifice continue to inspire. We remember them always:

Army Captain Eleanor G. Alexander
Army 2nd Lieutenant Pamela D. Donovan
Army 2nd Lieutenant Carol A.E. Drazba
Army Lt. Colonel Annie R. Graham
Army 2nd Lieutenant Elizabeth A. Jones
Air Force Captain Mary T. Klinker
Army 1st Lieutenant Sharon A. Lane
Army 1st Lieutenant Hedwig “Heddi” D. Orlowski

Rather than posting individual biographies, I compiled them all into a single document. This is my tribute to these women.
